Children, the gifts of God often face a life of crime and crisis. There are thousands of children victimized by crime and crisis begging and slowly getting into criminal activities. on the streets. These children need the security of shelter, food, clothing, medical care and education. Carmal Matha Shanthi Bhavan is our response to this situation.
The Carmal Matha Shanthi Bhavan is an orphanage run under the auspices of the Carmal Matha Trust. Brother Joy Daniel inspired by a divine institution and the overpowering feeling that the little children who walk the streets, the small orphans who are often leading a dejected life needed their rightful place in this society founded the Carmal Matha Shanthi Bhavan - a place for the destitute in year 1995 at Mundoor in Trichur District with a few kids. Here along with providing food, education and shelter we also instill character and morals to help them grow, learn and eventually become independent.
Br. Joy painstakingly visited many railway stations in South India, the hubs of street children and there he found that it was not just poverty that these kids were up against, but the neglect and the callousness of the society. Also that they needed a complete change in their life style and need to be brought to the mainstream of the society as well. They too deserved a chance to lead a normal life like other children with a shelter over their head and a sense of belonging in their hearts to transform them into responsible adults!
Later on another shelter in a half acre plot at Chundale, Wayanad [District] in the up-hills of Western Ghats on the Calicut Mysore, Bangalore National highway [NH 212] in a serene and picturesque environment. A good number of children between the age group 3 and 18 from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala are housed in this shelter. Irrespective of their caste or religion, they stay, dream and pray at this home for a better tomorrow. Till now the center has been able to rehabilitate thousands of kids. Shanthi Bhavan has left no stone unturned to return back the smile they had lost!
After coming here, they have started to relive their lives leaving behind their horrific past and they have begun to learn to tread forward with confidence and dignity. They live here
as a member of a single family, where every one is treated on equal terms.
Now... we are filling a need... but a great need nonetheless..
Join hands with us to give these children a home, an education, food, medicines, clothes, a hope and a future. |
